...the glossy revue mounted at Palm Beach Dramaworks... Send in the Clowns...is Sondheim's biggest song hit, wherein his artistic style and popularity are consummated. It's performed in this Side by Side with wistful grace by Broadway veteran Anna McNeely. The Dramaworks production directed by J. Barry Lewis, with musical director Craig D. Ames at his instrumental finest, accurately reflects that complexity - along with the highs and lows of popular appreciation. The Dramaworks package features McNeely, Cecilia Torres and Terrell Hardcastle, while Ames serves up expansive keyboard arrangements. Ames can also be a gracious performer-host, and jumps into the action at a few choice opportunities.
