While that production will have more star power, it is unlikely to have any greater impact than the simply staged, impeccably performed season opener at Palm Beach Dramaworks. Few works in the American theater are as dark and nihilistic as this, yet the effort is more than justified by such a skilled presentation. ... two impressive performances from Barbara Bradshaw and the company's managing artistic director Nanique Gheridian as Thelma and Jessie, respectively. ...'night, Mother fits the troupe's mission of selecting works of significance that are relatively underexposed, and then this increasingly accomplished company presents it with all its tough-mindedness intact.
